Welcome to Lanier Guide Service (LGS). I’m Brian Nyswaner and I have lived and fished on this beautiful lake for over twenty-five years. As a professional guide, I invest 300+ days on the lake each year. By doing this I maintain constant, valuable insight into the ever changing lake and fishing conditions. I am a University of Georgia graduate with a degree in environmental science. After graduation I worked in the corporate world managing a successful cellular operation. But the lure of the Lake and my passion for fishing directed me to pursue a career as a professional guide. I began striper fishing in the early 1990’s before it became the popular sport it is today. I had the good fortune of learning from a local legend, Don Roberson. He was among the early pioneers that brought striper fishing on Lake Lanier to the forefront. I maintain a productive relationship with several veteran guides here on the lake. We work closely as a team exchanging information on current patterns and techniques improving our catch rates and the customers’ experience. I operate two high performance fishing machines: a Sportsman 247 and a Triton 240LTS. The Sportsman is new while the Triton has 10 years of fishing experience and runs great. Both boats are equipped with the latest in equipment and technology designed to provide customers a safe, pleasurable day on the lake.

A DECLINE IN STOCKING AND THE INFLUX OF “DIGITAL POACHERS” HAVE HAD A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE STRIPER FISHING. THESE WANNABES GET ON TOP OF THE RESPECTIBLE GUIDES CROWDING THE WATER AND SPOOKING THE FISH. CHECK YOUR GUIDES OUT MAKING SURE THE ONE YOU SELECT IS A TRUE PROFESSIONAL GUIDE. STRIPER FISHING IS STILL A BLAST AND PARTICULA ENJOYED BY FOLKS LOOKING FOR A FUN DAY ON THE LAKE.
- SPOTTED BASS
LANIER IS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE VERY BEST SPOTTED BASS FISHERIES IN THE COUNTRY. FOUR AND FIVE POUND FISH ARE COMMON. THESE FISH ARE GREAT FIGHTERS AND CAN BE LOCATED DEEP OR SHALLOW. SPOTS FORM HUGE SCHOOLS IN WINTER AND SUMMER. SPOTTED BASS FISHING ON LANIER IS HARD TO BEAT.
- CRAPPIE
THIS PESKY LITTLE FISH PROVIDES HOURS OF NON-STOP ACTION UNDER SKILLED GUIDES. BAIT, DEPTH AND PRESENTATION ALL MUST BE FACTORED INTO THE EQUATION. LATE WINTER AND SPRING ARE BEST TIMES TO GO AFTER CRAPPIE. BY THE WAY, YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS FISH FOR GREAT TABLEFARE.
- WALLEYE
THIS NORTHERN FISH WAS FIRST STOCKED A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE PROGRAM CONTINUES TODAY. THE NUMBERS CONTINUE IN LANIER’S DEEP COLD WATER SUPPORTED BY THE MANY STREAMS AND RIVERS FLOWING INTO THE LAKE. THESE FISH DON’T FIGHT LIKE A STRIPER BUT ARE VERY CHALLENGING TO CATCH IN NUMBERS. THEY ARE DELICIOUS!

STANDARD PACKAGES FOCUS ON STRIPER. ALL TACKLE IS PROVIDED. HALF DAY AND FULL DAY TRIPS ARE AVAILABLE. SAFETY AND COMFORT LIMIT GUESTS TO 4 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN.
INSTRUCTIONAL PACKAGES PROVIDE TRAINING ON THE FUNDAMENTALS OF STRIPER FISHING. EFFECTIVE USE OF ELECTRONICS, TROLLING TECHNIQUES FOR UMBRELLA RIGS AND LEAD CORE USE WILL IMPROVE RESULTS. INSTRUCTIONAL PACKAGES CAN UTILIZE GUEST BOAT IF THE CLIENT DESIRES. I PREFER A LIMIT OF 3 GUESTS TO IMPROVE TRAINING SUCCESS.
MULTIPLE BOAT TRIPS ARE AVAILBLE. I WILL ARRANGE THE TOP OF THE LINE PROFESSIONALS TO MAKE FOR AN ENJOYABLE AND MEMORABLE DAY ON THE LAKE.
